Didn't your mothers teach u respect for your elders. The fear of being beaten by Ned ( Nedphobia) is a real and potent factor for many of us old types. She is strong and only weighs about 30 kilos. I've seen her do triathlons without collapsing. In light wind she is the stuff nightmares are made of. Ned may be the best reason to stay in open class where I only have to finish to get a better result than her. So lets have no more talk of Ned face offs.

Funny the way my name comes up in bold on this thread and everyone else's is small & insignificant. Nice touch, probably doesn't mean an awful lot. You don't need to feel slighted or that you are in fact small & insignificant.

You could always just enter the FE+ division (although then you wouldn't have an excuse when Ned beat you home)

Hi Mandrake, if that's your real name. The point is (and I am surprised you missed it as its blindingly obvious) that 1 minute is not long enough to cover up my blindingly slow speed. 3 minutes was a bare minimum and maybe I could race Ned to the finish.

I will have to look for another solution.

I do like the concept of me starting ahead of everyone else though. will give it some thought. Maybe discuss it with good old Ten Dollar Fawkes.

Chris, I didn't ask uncle mike because it was a serious suggestion requiring intelligent consideration (thanks Brett). Clearly uncle mike would be out of his depth as the words "serious" and "intelligent" are rarely combined in a sentence with his name unless the word "not" is also present.

perhaps someone else will have a suggestion to help (me that is, not the F E guys).

Hey Bruce,

I have a solution for you - how about the FE+ continue to start with the main fleet but you start 1 minute BEFORE everyone. You could pretend that your performances are really improving.......!
Cheers

It is great that the FE+ fleet is growing so quickly.
Don't believe FE+ is ready to be a seperate fleet.
A large part of the buzz and getting better at racing is the starting environment.... That said, when demand dictates an amended format, we will respond....Cheers

Uncle Bruce, perhaps you should be asking Uncle Mike about this, expecially as you are discussing the infamous Bad Air Nelson.

allow me to compliment barry F on the courses over the weekend and particularly the long starting line. It was great to have room for everyone to run the line & have a chance of clean wind. In the past, at many events, i often thought they were being charged by the meter for start lines.

Having said that, I have found a serious problem. With the F E guys & gals doing 1 lap I am in danger of finishing last whereas before those blokes used to be behind me to make me look better. As you know, appearances are everything for me, so I suggest that we think about having 2 starts, the F E fleet to go 3 mins after us. Not sure if that will be enough to cure my problem but it will give me a chance & at light wind events the lower numbers on start line might be useful in helping all to get some wind.

Its a concept familiar to the old longboarders and would ease Barry's boredom, give him something to do between the first start & the finish. Oh, the F E blokes might support it too, not everyone appreciates being left in Uncle Mike's gas.
