1Brett,
The flags are starting to show their age; it must be hard for the veterans to see the “General Recall”. I know where there is a set collecting dust; used once!
Game on for season 2008/09. I’ve decided to stay home and watch the GF sunday; as my pilot has gone missing and my caddy services are not required.

2Hope the forecast is good boys! I will miss it.
Mikey, in my absence I’d like you to step back up to the plate and resume your name again on the trophy this season! Chris will be fast after his Worlds campaign. I hear Brett has done no sailing ;)
Greetz from Europe.

3Can we just fire a cannon down the start line, then there will not be a need for so many flags.

4After the share market news this morning (dropped 10% over night), we may all have a lot more time for windsurfing…

7Little Sam will never say it so I guess I will take on the burden.
Uncle Mike, your advanced age and retreating hair has rendered you a roadblock on the course (I can speak with some authority on this). We cannot know if Little Sam would have won but for you taking him out, but it seems a possibility. We can be sure however that you are getting slower, that your eyes are imperfect, your hearing as bad as your fathers and that when not involved in collisions you are generally seen floating around the top mark with a broken this or that and that overall you have become a hazard to shipping.
In the interests of fairness I suggest you be compelled to wear a swiss cow bell round your neck. This would warn others of you being in the vicinity and give you an incentive to stay on the board. If you did fall in & sink it would tell us where to search for you (till you run out of breath). I doubt it could make you go any slower. How about it Mikey.

8Ouch….Uncle Bruce has a mean streak.
I have full confidence Uncle Mike will be back with a vengeance at Huskisson…..
Speaking of vengeance, Uncle Mikes dad is the Race OD, so I imagine you’re luck is about to run out huh?

9Peter Hocking….using new gear on race day is what has become known as doing a “Full Rick”, due to Rick Murray famously doing this at several national championships.

10point 1 - hard to believe i know but it would be possible to go slower - ie i’m still beating you Uncle Bruce!
point 2 - if sam had verbalised ’starboard’ he may have not been needlessly cut down - i’m guessing the next time he sees me on port he won’t be so assuming that i can actually see, and will (quite rightly) tell me to get out of the bleedin way
point 3 - brett is right - hope your up for some ‘practice’ at JB Uncie B, cause you might not find your acknowledged as a starter by the start boat!

12I heard Chris refer to Basil the Greek as a half rick in Portugal,,,,,,? Due to him racing the worlds on an untested VMG BLADE!!!!
So now we have a,,,,, “full Rick”
as well as a,,,,,,,,,”Half Rick”
What constitutes a,,,,,,,,,”Half Nelson”?
Or indeed a,,,,,,,,”Full Nelson”?
Any ideas?
Bruce?

13what about a “Full Monty.”
Chris seems to always perform a “Half Monty” during his rigging up ritual.

14How about:
Booties or Gloves = Half Nelson
Booties AND Gloves = Full Nelson

15Jason,
A half Nelson is where you take out someone on Starboard.
A full Nelson is where you do the above & then blame them.
A double Nelson is where you do both the above & then threaten to use family connections, bribery, nepotism &/or extreme tallness to intimidate the impartial, fair minded citizen who had the temerity to mention, in a polite & well meaning, positive sort of way, your short comings.
A double Nelson is usually seen in devious, aging, morally corrupt specimens & occaisionally in some so stupid they put in writing on public forums their plans to corrupt the race starter, who is in any case well known to be incorruptible, at least for the sort of money Uncle Mike could afford.

16I know someone who will do a Half-Nelson for money.
Entirely anonymous…
Please desposit money into big white trailer with victim’s sail number attached.
Double the money will get a Full-Nelson.

17nice report Brett,
I would like to claim the credit for the increasing child/competitor ratio. The “Root a Windsurfer Today” campaign of several years ago was clearly a success. Which is to say I wrote the article, I am not claiming to have done the wedding tackle stuff.

Sean, when you coming back down under? You must be getting sick of Edam & poppy sandwiches by now?

20Wow,
Apparently some of the younger sailors have not read “Root a Windsurfer Today” and are excited at the prospects the title suggests so here is the link Ben;
http://www.storm-riders.com.au/info/windsurfing-articles/
In view of the increasing productivity of our friends it has been suggested a sequel is warranted to help the new Mums & Dads with the consequences of their sexuality, something along the lines of “Junior Burgers; How to Raise Them (but not too high)”.
I am thinking it would be a caring, sharing sort of article, backed by rigorous, scientific & psychological research of the sort Doctor Spok wishes he had done and which would light the way for these Junior Burgers to become worthwhile, obedient little buggers who will appreciate a good gybe, carry their Dads gear for him & understand that there is more to upwind tactics than standing well clear of Uncle Mike at a briefing. But is anyone interested?

21I’ll be back in time for the States in December. And its a good thing I’ll be back too… what with all this ‘everyone being beaten by a girl’ business going on… someone has to make a stand for ‘men’.
I leave you guys alone for 1 event and look what happens…

22Allison actually won another race, but the wind completely died and it was canceled…She can certainly sail, i guess that is why she has all those world championships?

23Well, well, well…Hands up guys, you know how it works by now:-)… How does it feel the 2nd time, getting beaten by a girl… Well, guess it was a long winter for most of your guys and you are not up to speed just yet, but thats no excuse…
Uncle Mike, you are excused, because you where gloves and bots…(puts you in the girl division anyway))))…

24Sam Parker was smart enough to disappear on Sunday, so being the only one not to be beaten by the skirt.

25Depends on you’re definition of “beaten by the skirt”.
I think we all know who wears the skirt in Sam’s relationship. Only joking Ruth…
