Also loved how Sail-World mentioned her improved performance in "higher winds" when it didn't actually get above 15 knots during the regatta :-/

Higher than what? Beijing?

I will confirm that rumour...

Not sure why they said I was an 'ex' sailboarder in that article... I mean, c'mon, we've been calling it 'windsurfing' for years now....

Sean has retired!

Big news guys. According to reliable media sources the scourge of NSW Formula saiors has retired.
"Crisp cites coach(ing) from ex sailboarder, Sean O'Brien, as the reason for her improved performance in higher winds."

Make sure to congratulate him this weekend ;-)

Yes guys, fantastic event. Great conditions and well run. I agree with Bruce, so refreshing to do some slalom racing also!

Now all I have to do is get my act together and be on time to read the course diagram so I actually get scores for my races by crossing the finish line properly without loosing a heap of points!!!! :(

I had to make a choice on Saturday between leaving my 2 children behind or my Slalom kit. Needless to say i didn't make that mistake on Sunday - PS when was the last time we had Course and Slalom racing on both days of the event? I can't remember once in the 10yrs that I have been competing?
Special thanks to Tom & Elizabeth Stephensen + Nick Nelson for doing a great job running the event....Also T2 (Tam Ting) for the sweet photos....

Many thanks to the guys who ran the w/ends racing. It was excellent; so good were the conditions that even Nick Nelson couldn't stuff up the work of John, Brett etc.

And since there has been discussion recently about including slalom in the program allow me to say that the racing we have had this season reminds me how great slalom is. Really, that was a brilliant weekend and though I love FW it would be a crying shame to cut out slalom, particularly when Tibor leaves his gear at home.

Byron,

The resulst were calculated this way so that we could...
1 - Effectivley combine the FE+ and Formula slalom results. Because the FE+ do not do the same formula course as you we cannot given them a "fair" placing other then number of Formula entries plus score (For Example - Ben Turner got 20 (no of competitors in Formula) plus 0.75 for first spot in FE+.
2 - All the slalom results get carried forward to the overall slalom result for the season - and in this the FE+ do sail the same course so should be just as eligible to be placed appropriately in the full fleet (to count towards the Slalom champion comp). Example: John Bear battled around the slalom course and deservs his 11th spot in slalom.
3 - Recognition that the disciplines are completely different (Formula and Slalom) and should be scored seperately.
4 - It was also an effort to reduct bias towards slalom scoring (because we did 8 races but only 4 for Formula). With three drops (12 races complete) someone who only raced 1 formula race could take the event. This was negated by giving seperate results and combining each result rather then races or points.

I did the results as decided without input from any others - I can see how you would have fared better if we had averaged the points across both disciplines but I guarantee you there was no analysis of results to favour any party.

Apols for the long winded explanation.

Awesome weekend of windsurfing! Great to do slalom! Had a look at results, can you tell me why we don't work on average of points rather than adding places to get results.
