Heat 5 @ Hawks Nest

Heat 5 @ Hawks Nest

The first Heat in 2009 kicked off in beautiful Hawks Nest and provided the first slalom event for the season. In total, 16 individual heats were run over the two days with two super high-wind formula races strung in on Sunday morning. Sam Parker dominated the slalom, taking 12 bullets out of the 16 races to beat Mike Nelson and Sam Fawkes for the overall weekend score with Tristan Perez taking out the FE+ scores.

Results are below with some photos from Sean Dayhew and Adam Craven.

  1. Is that poor old John O’Brien carrying Seans board again !!!!!!!

  2. Pretty sure that’s just me wearing my Dad’s hat.

Ps. Results won’t be up till later tonight (damn slalom!). But in the meantime you can navigate to the photo gallery here:

  3. Oh, and if anyone is wondering how you can get a little picture next to your comment … you need to go to http://www.gravatar.com and register with the email address you use for comments and upload a picture. Takes about 30 seconds…

It will then work on every website in the world that supports comments with Avatars.

What a world we live in.

  4. Formula pics on sunday were by Adam Craven, i was busy slicing my foot open.

  5. Hello Sean,
    Could you check my results…

I think my drops should be 24,24,16,12 with a total points of 63.75, which means I beat Murray.

Thanks for doing the results. I saw how long it took saturday night/morning and it takes ages!

    PS: I like slalom!

  6. how cool was it to watch the SE+ fleet – awesome to watch Mick, Baz, Pauly C, Mark and Louis up against the evil formula boarded Tristan (eveil, althoug probably harder – particuarly with only one harness line!)

  7. There are a few typos in the resuls… will fix them up tonight. Cheers.

  8. Go Prancer !!

  9. John, what’s going on? I can’t beleive they overlooked you for “Irish Sailor of the Year”

  10. Rick, I think your bottom batten is broken. Nice Storm Riders sticker.

  11. I put that sticker on manually – hence why it looks so distorted!

If you want to be on the featured-image of the website (and I will try to do everyone I can over the season eventually) you have to have something on your sail; whether you put it on or I do!

  12. SEAN, MAYBE U CAN ADD A RUG FOR RICK WHILE YOU ARE AT IT. MAKES YOU WONDER HOW HIS BRAINS DON’T GET FRIED SAILING WITH NO HAT.

MIKE, I AGREE, IT WAS GREAT WATCHING THE FE BLOKES. ONLY ONE GYBE, CLEARER RUN AT THE MARK, LOOKS TEMPTING DOESN’T IT.

  13. The slalom was great fun, even with the formula board. It certainly improved my gybes.
