THE ‘WHERE’S THE BOTTLE STORE BLUES’ GUIDE TO KEY WINDSURFING AREAS

Jervis Bay

Only approximately 180kms south from Sydney, a short 2 1/4 hour drive. Check out website www.shoalhaven.net.au for information on the area.

Also visit www.cartoscope.com.au/maps/shoalhvn/Huskisson.pdf to get a map of the area.

What the Map won’t show:

Before getting there:

Accommodation

There are many different kinds of accommodation in Huskisson and the surrounding Jervis Bay area. Prices vary, depending on your requirements, but for instance, houses/units start at $600pw, ask for overnight rates. Also, there are peak, off peak and shoulder rates so prices vary depending on time of year.

Accommodation ranges from motel/hotel to a house. There are even 2 camping grounds for tents or you can stay in the cabins that have ensuites. Speaking from experience, better value for money and nicer accommodation to be found in renting a house and sharing with friends than getting a cabin at either of the two tourist parks.

It is more difficult to get pet-friendly accommodation in Jervis Bay area as it is a huge national park. They are fairly protective of the local wildlife. All you can do is ask, or if the real estate agent isn’t helpful, get the number of the owner and call them directly.
